At Children's Dental Health Centre, we understand that every child’s dental journey is unique. Whether your little one is coming in for their first checkup, your school-aged child needs routine care, or your teenager is thinking about orthodontics, we’re here to help. If your child has had a scary experience before, we provide gentle, compassionate care to make their visit comfortable. Our pediatric dentists have extra training specifically in children’s dental health, growth, and emotional needs. We focus exclusively on kids, making their care our top priority.

We had a great experience with our child’s tooth extraction. Our child had an infection and swelling, so we were quite worried, but the dentist and the staff handled everything very well. The extraction went smoothly and easily, and they made our child feel comfortable throughout the procedure. We really appreciate their patience, care, and professionalism. Highly recommended!
What does it truly mean to go above and beyond to make sure a child receives the care they need? Our five-year-old daughter had several problems with her teeth, including a cavity that had become infected and required an extraction. As any parent can imagine, having a tooth removed can be frightening for a young child. Dr. Kevin used not only his expertise, but also his remarkable ability to communicate in a way she could understand. Dr. Kevin does more than care for children’s teeth; he genuinely cares about the child and the family behind every smile. We had such a wonderful experience at Children’s Dental Health Center – South Location. We brought our 3-year-old son in after an emergency dental trauma, and from the moment we arrived, the entire team was incredible. They truly met him where he was with his comfort level. Despite being a very high-energy 3-year-old, they were patient, attentive, warm, and incredibly supportive. They were able to take X-rays, assess his injury, and give us a clear plan of action, all while making him feel safe and comfortable. They were also able to make room for him very soon after we were referred, which meant so much to us during what was already a stressful situation. Everyone—from the front reception staff, to the nurses, to the dentist—had such a wonderful bedside manner. They gave our son so much individual attention that we genuinely felt like we were the only patients there. In fact, he didn’t even want to leave the office! I’m so grateful to know there is a child-friendly option for dental care where the experience is approached with so much patience and understanding. It is more expensive than a traditional dental office, but for us, the reduced stress and extra support for our child were absolutely priceless. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Children’s Dental Health Centre. After a previous dental experience that was very disappointing, I was a little nervous bringing my children in. From the moment we walked through the doors, every single person made us feel welcome. The dentist was absolutely incredible with both of my kids—patient, kind, fun, and exceptionally skilled. The hygienist was just as wonderful: gentle, compassionate, and so patient. They were both able to complete everything that needed to be done while keeping my children relaxed, smiling, and happy the entire time. That takes real talent. The reception area is fantastic, filled with games and activities that my kids didn’t want to leave! The front desk staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful from beginning to end. What could have been a stressful dental appointment turned into a fun and positive experience for our whole family. As a parent, that means everything. I am so grateful we found this clinic. When your child needs more than a dentist
When your child needs more complex dental treatment, finding care can feel overwhelming. Our South Calgary location has a dedicated surgical suite that meets strict standards for surgical care, allowing us to provide treatment that might otherwise require a hospital visit. Pediatric dentists and pediatric anesthesiologists work together in a space designed for children, with a team guiding your family through each step.

Answers to help you feel prepared
How old should my child be for their very first appointment?
The Canadian Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend a first visit by age one, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short, gentle and mostly about getting your child comfortable.
What if my child is scared of the dentist?
Most children are, at first. Our five pediatric specialists train specifically in managing fear and building trust. We move at your child’s pace, explain everything before it happens, and offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation and general anesthesia when a child needs more support.
Do you see children with autism or other special needs?
Yes. We offer quiet appointment times, sensory accommodations including noise-cancelling headphones and weighted blankets, and desensitisation visits where nothing clinical happens at all. If your child has been turned away somewhere else, call us.
Are you really open on Saturdays?
Yes, at both locations, for all appointment types. Both clinics run 8:00am to 4:30pm.
What happens if my child needs treatment under general anesthesia?
Most planned treatment happens at our own day surgery centre at the South location, so families stay with the same team rather than starting over somewhere unfamiliar. Our dentists review each child's medical history first. Some children with complex medical conditions, including certain cardiac conditions, need care coordinated with the Alberta Children's Hospital instead, and there the treatment may be done by one of our team or by the hospital's own pediatric dental team.
Do you do braces for young children?
We start watching how the bite and jaw are developing from your child’s earliest visits. Catching a problem while the jaw is still growing means we can often guide it rather than correct it later. Not every child needs treatment, and we will tell you plainly if yours does not.
Can I book without a referral from our family dentist?
It depends what you are coming for. Joining our prevention program as a new patient needs no referral, and you can book directly. If your child already has a general or family dentist and you want a specialist consultation about one specific concern, we ask that dentist for a referral so we have the history. Referring offices can submit online.
