Certified Specialist in Orthodontics
Dr. Long Tieu’s 14 years of post-secondary education started at McMaster University where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) and Master of Science Degree (MSc). He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) from the University of Western Ontario. After pursuing a one-year general practice residency at the University of Alberta, he returned to Hamilton to practice general dentistry for several years. His passion for orthodontic lead him to the University of Alberta to pursue further education the in the specialty of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Tieu is a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthodontics, a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCD(C)) and is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO).
Dr. Long Tieu is currently educating, straightening, and brightening little smiles at Children’s Dental Health Centre (CDHC). In addition to practicing at CDHC, Dr. Long Tieu practices in his south practice and is an adjunct professor at the University of Alberta.

The Vision Behind the Practice
Dr. Tieu and his team love how an improvement in a smile can lead a child to become more confident, and he feels fortunate to be able to see this change in his patients every day. His goal is to treat everybody as if they were members of his own family. Dr. Tieu and his team feels very rewarded to see the increased confidence and the big smiles on their patient’s faces after treatment is finished. The journey to see his patients grow through milestones of life while undergoing treatment always bring him joy and happiness to everyday practice.

Life Behind the Scenes
Dr. Long Tieu and his wife have four lovely energetic children. In his spare time, you will find him spending time with his family enjoying the city and province’s outdoor activities and culinary treats.
Dr. Tieu is a huge fan of sports. He enjoy playing volley ball, snowboarding, basketball and tennis.
